Anthony Eid is a Detroit policy advocate, community leader, and former Commissioner on the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission running to represent Michigan’s House District 9.
Anthony has spent his career working at the intersection of public policy, housing, healthcare, and community development. Through his leadership roles in nonprofit advocacy and public service, he has worked to bring residents, neighborhood organizations, and policymakers together to create practical solutions for Detroit communities.
Anthony currently serves as Senior Director of Public Policy at Community Development Advocates of Detroit (CDAD), where he works with community development organizations, housing advocates, local leaders, and residents to advance policies focused on affordable housing, neighborhood investment, economic opportunity, and equitable development throughout Detroit.
He also serves as Advocacy and Policy Coordinator at COTS, a homelessness organization in Detroit, where he works on homelessness policy, housing stability, and systems reform to help Detroit families access stable housing and supportive services.
Anthony previously served as Chairman of the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission, the historic citizen-led body created by Michigan voters to independently draw the state’s congressional and legislative district maps. During his time on the commission, Anthony helped oversee one of the most transparent and community-driven redistricting processes in the country, ensuring residents had a direct voice in shaping Michigan’s democracy, and helped create some of the fairest maps in the country.
His commitment to public service began at Wayne State University, where he served for years as Student Body President. He helped increase Black graduation rates, froze tuition costs for students, and addressed inequities within the medical school admissions process to ensure greater opportunities for Black students pursuing careers in medicine.
Anthony holds degrees in Biological Sciences and in Psychology from Wayne State University, along with a Master’s Degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. His background in science, healthcare, and research continues to shape his data-driven approach to policymaking and problem-solving. His work has been published in academic journals, and he is a frequent guest speaker at conferences and universities across the country.
Throughout his career, Anthony has focused on building partnerships across communities and institutions to address the challenges facing Detroit and Michigan families. He believes that government works best when it is transparent, accountable, and centered on residents' everyday experiences.
Anthony is running for State Representative because he believes Detroit deserves leadership that understands both the challenges facing working families and the policies needed to create lasting solutions. In Lansing, he will fight to end homelessness, build affordable communities, expand economic opportunity, ensure accessible healthcare, promote transparent government, and strengthen neighborhoods across House District 9.
Outside of his professional work, Anthony enjoys Detroit sports, cycling, fitness, coffee culture, and gaming. If elected, he will be the ONLY Chaldean-American in the Legislature, representing a new community in state-wide politics.
